It could be that the file itself was corrupted on download. Try downloading it again. I can read it just fine in Win 7(64). Originally by: Mike C
An aqauntance of mine has recently pointed out to me that your guide lists the covetor as the second most effecient practical mining ship in eve. This is not the case. The Rokh is the second most effecient practical mining ship, and here I will prove this.
Firstly, I am using one single common faction module, a Caldari Navy Co-Processor. If you were to correct the guide's description is listing without faction deadspace or officer modules, then it will not.
Rokh:
8x Modulated Deep Core Miner II (Veldspar Mining Crystal II)
4x Mining Laser Upgrade II
Caldari Navy Co-Processor
This yields 463.17521578125m¦ of ore per laser per three minutes, which can be rounded to 463.1m¦ due to minimum ore sizes. Equated out, this yields 1234.9m¦ per three minutes, or 20.59m¦/sec. The following Covetor (your fit) yields only 1233.9m¦ per three minutes, or 20.57m¦/sec.
Covetor:
3x Modulated Strip Miner II (Veldspar Mining Crystal II)
Mining Laser Upgrade II
Due to the extremely common prevalence and relative inexpense of this single faction module, I would think it worthy of annotation, just my two cents (or one m¦, whichever fits).
I have really only one thing to say to your friend: Call me back when you need RSI treatment. Having that much yield from 8 lasers will fill his cargohold eight times every minute. Have fun drag n' dropping. That's the prime reason I bit the bullet and trained barges.
Not to mention that shelling out for a faction module and risking RSI for a measly 1m3/minute is just lolworthy.
